Cowgirl Creamery Sammy

I take my sandwiches pretty seriously. When done right, they are so so so very good. When done wrong...well...see Subway. There are a few ingredients in my mind that you just can't skimp out on: bread, cheese, and meat. When I went to the Ferry Building farmer's market, I decided I'd make myself a fancy sandwich to celebrate Saturday.

First up? Bread - Della Fattoria. The sour batard that I picked up is ridiculous. Now if you're looking for a super crusty bread, this is not your bag. But honestly, it is some of the softest, chewiest, tastiest bread I've had.

Second? Cheese - where else would I go but Cowgirl Creamery.  Partnered with a few girlfriends, we managed to sample about seven different quesos. Just act really conflicted and they will keep cutting. While all of the cheeses were delicious, I decided to buy Wilde Weide, an organic raw milk gouda from Holland.

While the other ingredients are important (hello Cowgirl Creamery fig jam!), they take a sideline to the cheese and bread for this sammy.

Sandwich Ingredients (for 2):

  • Della Fattoria sour batard
  • Wilde Weide gouda
  • 3-4 Tablespoons fig jam
  • 6 slices thick cut bacon
  • 3/4 avocado
  • Handful of arugula
  • Salt + pepper to taste
  • Mayo (if you feel so inclined)

Assemble and nosh on this salty sweet combo. Bon Appétit!
